(owner of the horse) hereby contracts for training and board with Rexx Shelton at
the Carolina Cowboy’s in Salisbury, NC
beginning on ___________(date) for the horse named
_____________________________, a ______ hand, ________ age _________________
(color) ___________(gender) ______________________ (breed)______________________
in consideration of the following terms:
1. Payment –
Owner will pay Rexx in an agreed schedule upon completion of the training billed at
the rate of $450.00 per week. The owner,
after the first week of training, if unsatisfied with either the results or
methods may take the horse home with no charge.
If owner decides to leave the horse for further training then the cost
of the first week becomes part of the total training charge.
2.
Additional Expenses – Owner will be responsible for all veterinary expenses,
farrier expenses, deworming, vaccination costs, and feed supplements.
3. Care – Rexx
will provide free access to water, hay, and salt as long as the horse is on the
premises which is included in the training fee.
Rexx will keep the horse segregated from the other horses for the
duration of the training, and will feed supplemental feed at the owner’s
direction and expense.
4. Training
– The horse will be schooled five to six days per week at least 2 hours per
day, but normally more, barring unforeseen circumstances, either by Rexx or a
person under Rexx’s direction. Training will be planned by Rexx with input from
Owner to meet the goals set forth by the Owner for the horse. Rexx prefers that the owner spend as much
time as possible with the horse as it is being trained. Rexx may take the horse
out on trail ride as part of it training.
5. Risks –
Neither Rexx Shelton, nor any persons associated with The Carolina Cowboy shall
be liable for any sickness, disease, theft, death or injury suffered by or to the
horse or be libel for any cause of action arising from or connected to the
boarding or training of this horse. The
owner must be advised that training a horse is an inherently dangerous
undertaking to both the horse and the trainer.
Rexx will not hold the owner responsible for any harm that he may suffer
while training the horse,
and all risks
are assumed by the Owner for any injuries that the horse may suffer in the
course of its training.
6. Emergency
Care – If medical treatment is needed for the horse, Rexx or his agents will
attempt to contact Owner, but in the event that owner is not reached, Rexx or
his agents have the authority to secure veterinary or farrier care, the costs
of which will be borne by the owner.
7.
Termination – Either party can opt to have the training end and the horse
removed from The Carolina Cowboy at any time. In this case, Rexx will reimburse
Owner for any prepaid training and board that will not be provided.
